For the second time, the Bam Bam Kids Grappling team scored big at the NAGA Grappling Tournament. Pictured with coach Justin Reiswerg left to right are Brian Crowley (1 gold and 2 silver medals), Dylan DeMesa (bronze) and 5 year old Desmond Rubio scored a whopping gold, silver, and bronze medal (along with a samurai sword taller than he!) Our congratulations goes out to these kids. They did great!

Leigh Ann Dear took 2nd in both the gi and no gi divisions. Jeremy Lawrence placed 2nd in No GI, Michelle Delaney placed 3rd in the gi division. Matt Stevhenson (not pictured) fought and won an incredible 6 matches in a row to take 2nd place in the No Gi absolute division.

We are proud to say we have another CHAMPION at Bam Bam.  “The Fighting Son of Texas” Cody Phillips put on a great fight February 18th at the LEGACY Amateur Combat Series and won the 155 lbs. Title Championship Belt against Austin Franks.  Cody has been a fighter and Instructor of Bam Bam Martial Arts for the past 4 years.  Congrats Cody!!!

“By gutting out the last two rounds and winning the fight despite a broken foot (and possibly arm too), Cody showed a maturity befitting a professional fighter. We didn’t get to see him work on the ground but from what I’ve heard, he’s alright there. What we did see was excellent footwork and attacking in bursts to keep his opponent off-balance. Not lost in all this was that he was fighting an excellent opponent in Austin Franks, who is no slouch in his own right as far as a boxer and mixed martial artist. Cody was able to sway the fight to his advantage using his speed and command of the cage. On Saturday January 29th 2011 Bam Bam Martial Arts Fighter and Instructor Justin Reiswerg, featured on the LEGACY Fighting Championship against Rey Trujillo, former Legacy Champion and 2010 Fighter Of The Year.

After 20 months away from the cage, Justin returned with a great fight and an ARMBAR submission over the former champion. Justin’s victory is a result from hours of training and dedication. This is what www.TXMMA.com said about Justin’s Victory:

Brazilian Top Team Coach Sergio “Babu” Toledo gave a 3 day workshop at Bam Bam Martial Arts on Oct 25th – 27th.

Sergio is the former head BJJ coach for Black House in Brazil as well as BJJ trainer of UFC notables Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida, and Vitor Belfort.

The contents of this workshop were recorded and will soon be released on DVD.
